Characters: Penelopia, Antinoos, Telemachos, Leiodes, Odysseus, Eumaios, Eurymachos.
Summary: Penelopia went and got the bow of Odysseus and said if anyone could string the bow with his own hands and shoot through the openings of 12 axes in a line that she would leave with them and become their wife. While they were trying to string the bow, Odysseus was telling his the swineherder and Eumaios that it was him Odysseus and he proved it by showing them his scar from the boar. They go inside and see that no one has strung the bow, so Odysseus tries and succeedes, and their plan is set into motion.
Importance: Their plan for Odysseus's arrival is set into motion.
Themes: Pride: All the men don't want the beggar to try because if he succeeds then it will make them all look like whimps.
