Book 19

Characters: Odysseus, Telemachos, Eurycleia, Melantho, Penelopia, Autolycos

Summary: Odysseus tells Telemachos to put the weapons away. Then Telemachos tells the nurse to lock the girls away and that he is going to put his father's weapons away. Odysseus goes down stairs and waits for Penelopia to come down, and when she does, she questions him about Odysseus. As they're talking, Odysseus makes her cry a few times while talking about Odysseus, and tells her that Odysseus is safe and that he'll come home soon. Penelopia tells the nanny to wash Odysseus's feet and she was starting to recognize him as Odysseus, and she felt his scar from the boar and she knew it was him. Penelopia says it's time to go to sleep so she goes upstairs and sleeps.

Importance: The nanny know's Odysseus is home, and Odysseus and Penelopia finally talk about Odysseus, and the plan is finally set into motion.

Theme: Rememberance: The nanny remembers the little things about Odysseus, and Odysseus remembers his father's dad and how he got that scar on his leg.
