Summary: Penelopia prayed to Artemis and said to kill her if she is to never see her husband again. Odysseus prayed to Zues to give him a sign and he did so by thunder. The swineherder brought over some pigs, Melanthios brought his goats, Philoitios brought a cow and goats for later adn was talking to Odysseus, and in the meantime the pretenders were discussing how to kill Telemachos, and ruled that they quit talking about it and go in and enjoy dinner. Telemachos threatens to kill anyone that gives Odysseus a hard time.
Importance: It was getting us ready for Odysseus's arrival
Theme: Hospitality: Telemachos is down to his last straw with everyone in his house and is treating them really poorly.
